Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf

This morning at 8:00 I switched from ABC to BBC news and Imam Rauf was speaking live from NYC.  YOu can find it on www.bbc/uk/com  or google BBC.  He spoke about himself, his emigration to NY in 1965, his American pride and his travels on behalf of the US govt overseas, to teach about Islam.    He is a great speaker, I think.  He got to talking about the Cordoba initiative, named after a time in Cordoba Spain when Jews, Christians and Muslims lived in harmony and learning.  BBC cut him off after 30 minutes... can you imagine US media covering his presentation?

I'm finally engaged in learning more about Islam and the interfaith dialog.  Will, you said yesterday on FB that you had a reading from the Qu'ran yesterday at worship.  What a great move to include all our brothers and sisters of faith.
I am deeply troubled that, in the major network news at 8:30 am, no mention was made of the Imam's speech.  Why am I continually surprised at the lack of coverage of events that could be life-changing for so many?   Have you noticed that the flood victims in Pakistan and the victims of the Chinese floods and landslides are off the news?  Yet we know that the Chilean miners got their cigarettes... Is this a hemispheric or racial or??? prejudice?

Heavy sigh.  What we gonna do???  peace out, my friends...
